Creator of the Month

Some people collect foot pics. Mr. Lift makes them, and he has been working up to it his whole life.

He's a 90s kid, the kind for whom AOL was a best friend, and he figured himself out early. At nine he told his actual best friend that he liked girls' feet. Back then it was all toes, tapered toes to be exact. Today it's a bit of everything, especially soft soles with a little redness to them.

The muse has been the same from the start. His wife knew about the fetish before they married; it was her feet that caught him, love at first sight. In 2017 he started posting candid shots of them online. A few years later he picked up a camera to do it properly, and when photographer friends came to visit and saw his work, they traded ideas, pushed each other, and he caught the bug.

Now he shoots mirrorless on a Fujifilm X-T3, edits every frame himself in Lightroom and Photoshop, watermarks everything, and books shoots on word of mouth alone, including as a guest photographer for the Texas Foot Parties. His wife is still in the picture: model, assistant, icebreaker and, by his own account, the accountant.

I asked him about all of it: the origin story, the gear, and what it takes to build a name one shoot at a time. Q&A style, coming up.

The Interview - Personal

The Origin Story

01

Mr. Lift

Behind the camera with his wife, his muse since before they were married.

NurFüsse: How long have you been in the fetish community?
Mr. Lift: I guess you could say five years since I started posting, but I've always lurked around a bit.

NurFüsse: When did you post your first ever pic on the internet?
Mr. Lift: I posted candid shots and riskier shots of my wife's feet back in 2017.

NurFüsse: Do you remember the first time you came out to someone about your fetish?
Mr. Lift: I was like nine and told my best friend I liked girls' feet.

NurFüsse: What was their initial reaction?
Mr. Lift: He was a little surprised, but then admitted he maybe liked them too. For a while we had the same fetish, but he either grew out of it or maybe it wasn't as profound as mine.

NurFüsse: When you realized you had a foot fetish, what was your go-to for foot-fetish content: magazines, movies, websites?
Mr. Lift: It was definitely the internet. I'm a 90s kid. AOL was my best friend.

NurFüsse: What aspect about the foot entices you?
Mr. Lift: In the beginning it was all toes. Tapered toes, to be exact. Now it's a bit of everything. I especially like soft soles with a redness to them.

NurFüsse: How supportive is your extended family, or do they even know?
Mr. Lift: They don't really know. They know I like feet. They know I'm into photography, but they've never actually seen my fetish work.

NurFüsse: What continues to make this business fun for you?
Mr. Lift: Well, it's not really a business, it's more of a hobby. I enjoy creating art out of things I love.

NurFüsse: Are there any fetishes outside of foot fetishism that you are into?
Mr. Lift: I'm not an average person. I've always been fascinated by the "different." I'm into BDSM, CBT, FemDom. I'm both an exhibitionist and a voyeur. I enjoy many things people might find odd.

NurFüsse: Did your wife learn of your foot fetish before or after getting married?
Mr. Lift: Before. She knew very early on. She knew it was her feet that enticed me. It was love at first sight.

NurFüsse: What is the one thing you love about shooting your wife, compared to shooting models you work with in the community?
Mr. Lift: When I shoot with my wife it's much more intimate and sensual. When I shoot with others the vision is different. It's more artistic and professional. I'm obviously more reserved and not distracted. I can focus on the end product and not ripping my sexy wife's clothes off.

NurFüsse: What is your favorite movie of all time?
Mr. Lift: Easy. The Star Wars series, followed by Interview with the Vampire.

NurFüsse: Who is your favorite musician or band?
Mr. Lift: Slipknot, Sublime and Korn.

There's a certain kind of beauty and emotion that you can only capture with a camera.

Behind the Lens

02

NurFüsse: What's your camera of choice right now?
Mr. Lift: Fujifilm X-T3.

NurFüsse: What are your go-to lenses?
Mr. Lift: Right now it's the 35mm f1.4, followed closely by the 50mm f1.0.

NurFüsse: What lighting kit are you using right now?
Mr. Lift: There are so many! LED panel lights with barn doors are my go-to right now. On top of softbox lighting and the all-magical ring light, lol!

NurFüsse: What are your thoughts on full frame vs. half frame?
Mr. Lift: I prefer a full-frame camera. Captures more.

NurFüsse: What are your thoughts on mirrorless cameras?
Mr. Lift: I prefer mirrorless. It's all I've used and it's what I prefer.

NurFüsse: Who is your favorite camera maker, and why?
Mr. Lift: Fuji cameras in general are better than Canon. Fuji has more of a classic feel to it and produces beautifully clear, crisp images.

NurFüsse: On top of your professional cameras, do you ever use cell phone cameras?
Mr. Lift: Yes.

Mr. Lift

Fujifilm, a 35mm f1.4 and an LED panel with barn doors: his go-to kit right now.

NurFüsse: If so, which phone camera do you use?
Mr. Lift: iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

NurFüsse: What determines the type of camera you use?
Mr. Lift: I did a lot of research and found that Fuji is what's best for me. Fuji has better lenses and is more user friendly.

NurFüsse: What is the determining factor that compels you to buy a camera?
Mr. Lift: Megapixels.

NurFüsse: Do you use an assistant in your shoots?
Mr. Lift: Yeah, my wife. If she's not in front of the camera herself.

NurFüsse: Do you edit your content yourself, or does someone else?
Mr. Lift: I edit all my own stuff.

NurFüsse: If you do it yourself, what software do you use?
Mr. Lift: Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

NurFüsse: Are you PC, Mac, or both?
Mr. Lift: Just bought a Mac, so no more PCs.

I just make sure I lead with consent.

The Interview - Professional

Building the Brand

03

NurFüsse: How long have you been into photography?
Mr. Lift: Four to five years. But on a professional level, just about a year.

NurFüsse: What made you want to do it professionally?
Mr. Lift: I love capturing beautiful moments, whether it's happiness, sadness, pleasure or pain. There's a certain kind of beauty and emotion that you can only capture with a camera. A few photographer friends of mine came to visit last year and were impressed with my work. We exchanged ideas and vision, inspired each other. I caught the bug.

NurFüsse: What's the primary aspect of feet that you try to capture?
Mr. Lift: There isn't one. Sometimes it's the shine, shadows, width, toes, arches, the texture of the wrinkles. Everything.

NurFüsse: How much time is put into marketing your business?
Mr. Lift: Not much. I photograph. Edit slightly. Share, post and move on.

NurFüsse: What social media platforms do you publish content on?
Mr. Lift: Instagram, Twitter and my Fansly page.

NurFüsse: Do you recommend diversifying your social media platforms, or picking one and mastering it?
Mr. Lift: If you're trying to advertise and grow a business, then yes. Advertise EVERYWHERE. But if you're more like me and it's more of a hobby, then only share where you feel the most love and appreciation.

NurFüsse: How do you feel about the way social media platforms have treated foot-fetish content creators and sex workers?
Mr. Lift: Angry. It sucks. Mostly disappointed with society, especially since there isn't any nudity involved.

NurFüsse: How trusting are you of social media platforms across the whole content lifecycle, from publishing to terms of service?
Mr. Lift: Not very trusting. I watermark everything with my own logo. It's upsetting when people repost and take credit for your hard work.

NurFüsse: What role does networking with other models, producers, photographers and creators play in building your business?
Mr. Lift: A big role. Word of mouth is key. Without that validation, or the community vouching for me, I don't have much of a reputation, which is absolutely essential.

NurFüsse: Do you attend the cons in the community? If so, which has been your favorite?
Mr. Lift: No, but we hope to some day soon.

NurFüsse: Have you ever attended a foot party?
Mr. Lift: Yes, several. As one of the Texas Foot Parties' guest photographers, I imagine I'll be very busy.

NurFüsse: What process do you use to map out a shoot?
Mr. Lift: Well, first I determine my workspace. What kind of look am I going for? What end result does the model want? Or what's my subject? I size up the room, determine what lenses I want to use, what kind of lighting I'm working with. I don't have a big process. I just go with what I know, identify any problematic areas and adjust accordingly.

Mr. Lift

Word of mouth is the whole marketing plan: shoot, edit slightly, share, move on.

NurFüsse: Do you have a website?
Mr. Lift: Not yet.

NurFüsse: Do you use CRM software to book, schedule and collect payment from clients?
Mr. Lift: No. I've only had a few shoots and have a few events scheduled. All word of mouth, so none of that is necessary at the moment. I use Cash App and Venmo and take tips in cash, lol.

NurFüsse: What's your icebreaker to start a shoot?
Mr. Lift: My wife. She's the social one. She can make anyone feel at ease and comfortable. If she's not around, then I just make sure I lead with consent. We will shoot whatever content they're comfortable with, whatever shots they want to take, without any pressure whatsoever. I am not a content creator (other than for my wife), so I think that helps.

NurFüsse: Do you ever get nervous before a shoot?
Mr. Lift: Always!

NurFüsse: Do you work with makeup artists, or do your models do their own makeup?
Mr. Lift: I don't really care, except a model should come prepared. I'm there to shoot. I expect them to be ready, and if someone's bringing a makeup artist that could cause delays.

NurFüsse: Are your rates firm or negotiable?
Mr. Lift: I'm a new photographer, so negotiating is okay. I understand I have a reputation to build up and it takes time.

NurFüsse: Do you do outdoor photography?
Mr. Lift: I do. I love it because natural lighting can work to your advantage. Of course too bright isn't good either, but photos in natural light are always the best.

NurFüsse: Have you shot a model in public?
Mr. Lift: From the fetish scene, only my wife. But I have had some graduation shoots and engagement photos in public.

NurFüsse: If so, what do you do to keep your model focused if onlookers heckle or make comments?
Mr. Lift: We've never had that problem. Usually when people see a professional camera they take a quick look and keep going. It's not usually a big deal.

NurFüsse: What software do you use for accounting and taxes?
Mr. Lift: I don't, lol. My wife's the accountant.

NurFüsse: Do you do videography?
Mr. Lift: No, but it's something I'll be exploring very soon.
